Greetings to all visitors! I have not been very active in keeping up this website in the past few years, as well as not writing much music. Now, at age 70, I have plans to write some more music, a song cycle for soprano and flute, to be performed next Spring in 2025. Meanwhile, I invite you to peruse my website and listen to some of my music. This year, 2024, my song cycle, “This Wavy, Clumpy Yard of Mine” for mezzo-soprano and piano, to poems by my aunt, Mary Catherine Kirtley Young, was published by Classical Vocal Reprints. In the year before the COVID pandemic, two piano works of mine were performed on November 4th, 2019 at Jiyuugakuen Myounichikan-Koudou in Tokyo, Japan. “Lear Meditation 2: Into the Storm” for two pianos (new edition, completed January 2019) was given its Japan premiere by pianists, Kazuhiro Miura and his wife, Mayumi Miura. Kazuhiro Miura gave his second performance of “Lear Meditation 1” for solo piano (completed June 2015). Both pieces were performed beautifully! Thank you, Kazuhiro-san et Mayumi-san!
